The Detroit High School Sports Awards, presented by Detroit Area Honda Dealers, is thrilled to announce the nominees for the Hockey Player of the Year. The winner will be unveiled during a live show on June 18 at The Fillmore Detroit, in partnership with the U.S. Army.
This program is part of an nine-month student-athlete recognition initiative that will culminate in a red-carpet event this spring. It aims to honor athletes, coaches, and teams from the greater Detroit region participating in sanctioned Michigan High School Athletic Association sports.
During the live show, nominees will be recognized, including players of the year for all 29 sports except Hockey Player of the Year. Additionally, special awards will be given for exceptional on- and off-the-field achievements by student-athletes, coaches and teams such as Courage Award, Coaches of the Year, Teams of the Year and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year.
Nominated athletes who confirm their attendance will receive complimentary tickets to attend the event thanks to sponsors. Nominated athletes can register for the show while guests of nominees can purchase tickets online.
