Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has offered his insights on the selection of Team India’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, set to be announced by May 1. In a video posted by Star Sports on social media, Pathan suggested his ideal lineup for the tournament.
According to Pathan, captain Rohit Sharma should open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, with Virat Kohli at number three and Suryakumar Yadav at number four in the batting order. He also recommended Rinku Singh, Rishabh Pant (WK), and Shivam Dube for positions five and six, and Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja for seven and eight.
Pathan discussed the spin department, stating that Kuldeep Yadav should be included in the squad, with the choice between Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal for another spinner. He preferred Bishnoi due to his fielding abilities. In terms of fast bowlers, Pathan suggested Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj.
The former cricketer also addressed the debate over an extra batter, suggesting that the decision could be between Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson. With one potentially being a traveling reserve if not selected in the main squad.
In summary, Pathan’s suggested India squad for the T20 World Cup includes: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya
