Scotland faced a crushing 10 wicket defeat to Sri Lanka in the Women’s T20 World Cup Group A qualifier on April 27, 2024 in Abu Dhabi. The match was dominated by Sri Lanka, with Kavisha Dilhari taking four wickets for just 13 runs and Inoshi Priyadharshani taking three for 11.
Scotland struggled to keep up, with Lorna Jack top scoring with 24 runs and Kathryn Bryce contributing 22. Despite their best efforts, Scotland only managed to score a modest total of 94 runs in just over 18 overs.
Despite the setback, Scotland will still have the opportunity to compete in Group A against United States and Thailand. Ireland, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, and Vanuatu make up Group B. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals on May 5th, with the final taking place two days later. The winners of the tournament will secure a spot in the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
