The World Games 2029 to be Held in Karlsruhe, Germany

The 13th edition of The World Games will be hosted by Karlsruhe, Germany in 2029. This makes Karlsruhe the first city to organize the event twice, having previously hosted it in 1989. The city has also hosted other major international sporting events.

Karlsruhe was nominated for the IWGA flagship event by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and will host it in the summer of 2029. Located in south-western Germany near the French border and at the heart of Europe, Karlsruhe will mark 40 years since it organized The World Games in 1989.

IWGA President José Perurena expressed gratitude for Germany’s strong commitment to The World Games, emphasizing the excellent conditions provided for athletes in past events held in Karlsruhe and Duisburg. Around 3,000 world-class athletes from over 100 countries and regions will compete in about 35 sports during the 13th edition of The World Games.
