Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame inducts Gigi Marvin, Neal Broten, Willie Burton, and Larry McKenzie

On April 6, the Xcel Energy Center crowd cheered loudly as the latest class of Star Tribune Minnesota Sports Hall of Famers, known as “the hoops and hockey class”, was honored during a Wild game. Hockey legends Gigi Marvin and Neal Broten, as well as Minnesota basketball icons Larry McKenzie and Willie Burton, were among those recognized.

Unfortunately, Class of 2023 inductees Cheryl Reeve and Phil Housley were unable to attend the ceremony. Reeve was at the women’s Final Four, while Housley was serving as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers. However, their absence did not dampen the spirit of the event.

Among those present at the game were Jade Hill, who accepted the Hall of Fame trophy on behalf of her sister Tayler, a record-setting basketball player from Minneapolis South, and Gaabi Boucha, grandson of the late Henry Boucha, a Warroad legend.
