Wildcats Blanked in Defeat against UConn | K-State Athletics

On Tuesday night, K-State faced off against UConn in a game that saw the Huskies shut out the Wildcats 4-0 at Elliot Ballpark. Despite having some offensive opportunities, K-State was unable to capitalize and fell behind early in the game.

According to head coach Pete Hughes, the team struggled to build an inning and put pressure on UConn’s offense. He mentioned that they had been working hard to improve their performance and were disappointed with the result of the game.

On the other hand, UConn executed their matchups perfectly and made crucial plays to secure their win. Andrew Evans took the loss after giving up two runs in the third inning, while Ty Ruhl had a solid outing in relief. Ruhl struck out two and held the Huskies scoreless in his first appearance since February.

K-State dropped its fourth consecutive game and was shut out for the first time in a while. Five different Wildcats recorded hits in the game, including an extra-base hit from Jaden Parsons. However, it wasn’t enough to keep up with UConn’s offense which capitalized on four extra-base hits to secure their victory.

With this loss, K-State was set to play Northeastern later in the week before returning home for a series against Oklahoma State.
