The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is currently searching for a Visiting Assistant Professor to join their faculty. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Psychological Science and incorporate African-centered or Black Psychology into their teaching, research, and service. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working with African American or African diasporic communities using a community-based participatory approach, as well as those who have taught at the university level before.

Candidates should also demonstrate experience with multi-disciplinary, interdisciplinary or collaborative research and a commitment to creating student-centered learning environments that are active and engaging.
The successful candidate will teach five courses per academic year in the Africana Studies Department, with the possibility of cross-listing some courses with the Psychology Department and School of Social Work.
