Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) has recently announced the launch of a new temporary food establishment permit and online application system. This new system is designed to make it easier and more convenient for vendors to stay in compliance with upcoming special events. Starting July 1, vendors who operate at more than five special events in a calendar year will have the option to use one permit for the entire year, rather than obtaining a new permit for each event.
The Senior Environmental Health Specialist at NNPH, Kristen deBraga, believes that this new permit type will help streamline the permitting and inspection process while ensuring the safety of the food being served to the community. To apply for this permit, vendors must use a servicing area such as a commercial kitchen with a valid county health permit. This new system also allows vendors to apply for and pay for temporary food establishment permits online.
To provide more information about this new permit system and answer any questions that may arise, NNPH will be hosting a public forum on May 7 at 5:30 p.m. at NNPH Conference Rooms A/B located at 1001 E. 9th Street, Building B. The forum will cover common types of violations and provide vendors with an opportunity to learn more about the new process. A link to the Zoom stream of the forum can be found on the NNPH website.
Overall, this new temporary food establishment permit and online application system will make it easier for vendors to comply with regulations and ensure that the food being served is safe during special events in Northern Nevada.
