Glenwood South restaurant closes doors after two decades of operation

After 22 years in business, Armadillo Grill in Raleigh has shut down. The owners made the announcement on social media, stating that the restaurant would be closed immediately due to changes in the industry and rising costs of doing business. However, they are not abandoning their commitment to serve the community. They have expressed their intention to find a new location and assured customers that they will continue to offer catering services in Raleigh. Despite this closure, Armadillo Grill’s flagship location in Carrboro remains open.

This announcement comes as part of a growing trend of longtime downtown Raleigh businesses closing their doors. Capital Club 16 announced it would be closing its brick-and-mortar location on West Martin Street at the end of April. The owners plan to focus on catering, pop-up events, and their food truck, The Wandering Wolf. Clouds Brewing will also be shutting down its taproom on North West Street, although its other taproom location on Front Street will remain open. These closures highlight the challenges that businesses face in the ever-evolving restaurant industry.
