This week, the nominees for The Courier Journal’s girls athlete of the week have demonstrated exceptional talent on the softball diamonds and lacrosse fields. The poll for the winner is currently open, with voting closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday and the results being announced on Friday.
Tia Ice from Assumption stands out among the nominees for her impressive performance in games against Meade County, Mercy, and South Warren. She had an impressive seven hits, including a home run, and seven RBIs during these games. Kylie McRoberts from Whitefield Academy also made the list for her outstanding performance in games against Portland Christian and Jeffersontown. She won two games and struck out 16 batters during these matches.
Sophie Sheehan from Ballard had a standout performance in games against Collins and North Oldham, scoring eight goals and adding one assist to help her team secure wins in these matches. Allie Streble from Mercy also impressed with eight hits, including a home run, three RBIs, and a walk in games against North Bullitt, Assumption, and Bullitt East.
Hailey Voss from Sacred Heart stood out with five goals and an assist that helped her team win over Mercy and Mariemont (Cincinnati).
