Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie, and Laura Dern to headline ‘Monsanto’ with Rocket Science debuting Cannes sales

John Lee Hancock has directed the upcoming drama film “Monsanto,” which is set to be presented to Cannes buyers by Rocket Science and CAA Media Finance. Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie, and Laura Dern have been cast in the film.

The script for “Monsanto” was developed in association with Zurich Avenue and written by Michael Wisner, Alexandra Duparc, Ned Benson, and Hancock. The producers include Moritz Borman, Eric Kopeloff, Philip Schulz-Deyle, Jon Levin, Adam McKay from HyperObject Industries, and Kevin Messick. Rocket Science will handle international sales while CAA Media Finance will manage US rights.

Hancock expressed his interest in directing this film due to its dramatic and relevant nature in today’s world. As a director with films like “The Blind Side” and “Saving Mr. Banks” under his belt, he aims to deliver a compelling legal drama that resonates with audiences.

Powell will play Brent Wisner, a young attorney who takes on the case of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (Mackie) against Monsanto after Johnson developed cancer from using the company’s weed killer. Laura Dern will portray Dr. Melinda Rogers, Monsanto’s chief toxicologist who testifies during the trial that the product is safe.

Together with a talented cast and crew, they hope to bring this important real-life story to the screen in a compelling and thought-provoking way.
