Look back at memorable local sports moments from the past

The Union-Endicott softball team improved to a 13-0 record with a win in extra innings against Seton Catholic Central. In the game against SCC, the Tigers were behind 3-0 but managed to tie the game with three runs in the fifth inning, ultimately winning 4-3 in the ninth. The winning run came from Lisa Jones’ sacrifice fly, scoring Lisa Lamey who had advanced to third on Michelle Wolf’s bunt for a single. At that point, the team’s collective batting average was .344 and Caren Osier led the team with a .529 average.

In another game, Johnson City defeated Susquehanna Valley with a 6-5 win in a matchup of STAC division leaders. Johnson City scored three runs in the sixth inning, starting with Tina Stanton’s home run. Lori Czeitner and Brenda Mott also scored in the inning, with Cris Charpinsky hitting a two-out double to bring them home. This win solidified Johnson City’s position as one of the top teams in the league and strengthened their chances of making it to postseason play.
