This week, several high school athletes have been recognized for their impressive performances on the baseball diamonds and lacrosse fields. The nominees for Courier Journal boys athlete of the week include Kyle Campbell from Trinity, Sekayi Charasika from Kentucky Country Day, Ryan Eubanks from Eastern, Cole Thompson from DeSales, and Cooper Risinger from Ballard.

Voting is currently open for The Courier Journal’s boys athlete of the week, with the poll set to close at 6 p.m. on Thursday and the winner to be announced on Friday. Kyle Campbell had an outstanding week with five hits, one RBI, three stolen bases, and two walks in wins against Highlands Latin, St. Xavier, and Southern. Sekayi Charasika also made the list with five goals and two assists in a 19-17 win over Eastern in lacrosse.

In baseball, Ryan Eubanks had a standout week with five hits, five RBIs, and two walks in games against Southern, Christian Academy, and Bullitt Central. DeSales junior Cole Thompson struck out 13 batters in a 10-0 win over Christian Educational Consortium and also contributed three hits, one RBI
