On Tuesday, Israel announced the tragic death of one of the Argentines held hostage by Hamas, Lior Rudaeff. Rudaeff, a 61-year-old ambulance driver and volunteer doctor, was killed on October 7 and his body is still being held in Gaza. The Israeli Embassy confirmed this news and revealed that Rudaeff was a married man with four children.
According to social media posts from those close to Rudaeff, he went out to assist in the defense of the kibbutz on the day of the attack by Hamas against Israel. His family had to seek shelter for 48 hours during the peak of the violence and were eventually rescued. In his last message to his family, Rudaeff informed them of his injury and expressed his love for his wife and children. Unfortunately, nothing more was heard from him after that day.
Rudaeff was born in Buenos Aires but relocated to Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak with his family at the age of 8. He was known for his love of cycling and was a fan of popular Israeli musician Shlomo Artzi. The tragedy of his death has left behind a grieving wife, four children, and grandchildren. The news of his murder was met with sorrow and condolences from many.
