On April 20th, a group of young women vandalized the fleet of pink Volkswagen Bugs owned by small business Pink Sponge. The incident occurred on a parking structure in Glendora and was captured on video. At least three women were seen twerking on the hoods of the vehicles and causing other destruction such as breaking car windows, taillights, and headlights, as well as throwing cleaning products off the parking structure.
Jennifer Ahlgrim, co-founder of Pink Sponge, was devastated by the damage caused to their cars. She estimated the cost of repairs to be around $25,000 and affecting 18 cars. In addition to the physical damage, the vandals also carved gang signs onto the vehicles. Despite filing a claim with their insurance company, it was denied. As a result, Pink Sponge has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the repair costs.
The small business has been deeply affected by the vandalism and Jennifer described it as “really sad.” However, she expressed gratitude for the community support and assistance in recovering from the damage caused by the vandals. Authorities informed Jennifer that all three vandals, who are juveniles, have been arrested by Glendora Police for their actions.
