Schafer from VCSU emerges victorious at trap shoot state championship

The Valley City State University (VCSU) Trap Club participated in the North Dakota State Collegiate Trap Shoot on April 27. In this event, Kaden Schafer, a freshman majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, won first place in the Male Singles category with a score of 93 out of 100. VCSU’s top shooters for the day included Kaden Schafer, Logan Heen, Brooke Gaudry, Grant Larson, and Derek Jacobs.

VCSU’s club advisor and professor Dr. Nick Galt expressed excitement about the competition and praised the competitiveness of trap shooting as a sport. He mentioned that it was great to compete against other collegiate teams in the region and to see how well VCSU students performed under pressure.

Despite challenging windy conditions, Schafer was pleased with his performance and emphasized the mutual respect among competitors during intense shoot-offs.
