Statement by SIA on Legislation from the Senate Commerce Committee Funding CHIPS and Science Programs

On April 30, 2024, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) issued a statement in support of provisions included in legislation pending before the Senate Commerce Committee. David Isaacs, Vice President of Government Affairs at SIA, emphasized the importance of funding critical CHIPS & Science Act programs. According to him, these programs would advance innovation and promote resiliency throughout the semiconductor supply chain. SIA commended Chair Cantwell for proposing these important provisions to fund CHIPS & Science programs.

As an organization representing over 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms, SIA plays a vital role in strengthening leadership in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research. They collaborate with Congress, the Administration, and key industry stakeholders worldwide to encourage policies that fuel innovation, propel business growth, and drive international competition.
