Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory in Roanoke has seen a significant increase in demand for their services, prompting them to request permission to expand their facilities. The business, which specializes in final arrangements for pets, plans to install a third animal cremation unit and more cold storage to accommodate the growing need for their services.
The proposed expansion will cost $308,000 and will help the business better serve its clients and meet the rising demand for its services. If authorized, the owners of Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory plan to move forward with the construction of the new facility.
Marjene Schrader, the manager of Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory, expressed the need for expansion, stating that they are currently “busting at the seams” and have outgrown their current building. The new facility will allow them to serve even more clients in need of their pet cremation services.
The city planning commission is set to hold a hearing on May 13 to consider the request for expansion. If approved, Schrader mentioned that they would be prepared to make additional investments in equipment and staffing to ensure that they can continue to provide high-quality care to their clients.
Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory charges for cremations based on the weight of the animal, with prices varying across nine different zones.
