Man detained for alleged involvement in tip jar theft at Miami Beach establishment

On Wednesday, a man was arrested for stealing money from the tip jar at a Miami Beach business. Jeffrey Lewis Scott, 33, was taken into custody on a petit theft charge and is accused of being the thief captured on surveillance video earlier this week at Bagel Time Cafe, located at 3915 Alton Road. The cafe’s owner, Josh Nodel, told Local 10 that the thief seemed to only want someone else’s cash and got away with $200.

This latest incident comes after several news stories about someone taking down an Israeli flag hanging outside the cafe and stomping on it. Owner Nodel said that this happened three times in a matter of months. In previous incidents, the thief took down the flag and stomped on it. However, this time all they wanted was someone else’s cash.

As of Thursday morning, Scott was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. It is unclear if he has any prior criminal history or if he has any other charges against him at this time. Copyright 2024 by WPLG Local10.com – All rights reserved.
