IOCL Chooses Lummus’ Cumene Technology for their Operations

IndianOil Corp. Ltd. (IOCL) has selected Lummus Technology’s cumene technology for a new unit in Paradip, India. This unit is part of a larger petrochemical and polymers expansion project at IndianOil’s complex. The decision to use Lummus’ cumene technology was based on the benefits it offers, such as lower energy costs, operational efficiency, and exceptional product yield.

Lummus Technology, a global provider of process technologies and energy solutions, expressed enthusiasm about working with IndianOil on this project and continuing their long-term relationship. The scope of Lummus’ involvement includes the technology license for cumene, basic design engineering, proprietary catalyst, site services, advisory services, and training.

Romain Lemoine, Chief Business Officer for Polymers and Petrochemicals at Lummus Technology, expressed excitement about this partnership opportunity. He said that Lummus is proud to be a part of IOCL’s expansion project and looks forward to working together to make it a success.

IndianOil has previously licensed multiple technologies from Lummus, including naphtha cracker, INDMAX FCC, and polypropylene technologies. The partnership between Lummus and Versalis in licensing cumene technologies dates back to 2007. The cumene process uses a special zeolite catalyst and is known for its high cumene yield
