Sol 2075: Let’s SAMple the Party!

On Sol 2075, the focus of our planning efforts will be on conducting a methane experiment using our SAM instrument to analyze an atmospheric sample. However, we were able to allocate 45 extra minutes for additional science activities.

The ENV group will use this time to conduct various atmospheric monitoring tasks, including evaluating dust opacity using Navcam and Mastcam. They will capture line-of-sight images and measure tau, as well as search for dust devils by taking a series of images with Navcam and monitoring the deck with Mastcam.

In contrast, the GEO group has planned a ChemCam LIBS observation on the nodular target known as “Little Marais.” This target was previously analyzed on Sol 2074, and this additional observation will help us gain a better understanding of its chemistry. ChemCam will also be taking an RMI image of the Duluth drill hole, which will aid in our planning for future drill hole targeting activities over the weekend.
