Three-time F1 world champion Verstappen included in the 2024 Time 100 list

Max Verstappen has had an incredible run in Formula 1 over the past three seasons, with a record of 19 victories out of the 22 races on the calendar in 2023. His outstanding achievements have earned him a spot on this year’s Time 100 list, which includes a diverse range of global icons from various industries.

Among the athletes on this year’s list are Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, rugby star Siya Kolisi who led South Africa to victory in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and Jenni Hermoso who secured the 2023 Women’s Football World Cup win with Spain. Sean Gregory, Time’s senior sports correspondent, highlighted Verstappen’s incredible driving skills and confidence behind the wheel, noting an incident where he watched the battles on the track behind him during a race.

The Time 100, established in 1999, will host a summit on April 24 and a gala on May 15, and selected members from this year’s list will be invited to attend. Verstappen has an impressive F1 track record with over 57 race victories, over 36 pole positions and holds the record as the youngest driver to debut in F1 at just seventeen years old in 2015. His move to Red Bull in 2016 saw him win his first race for the team at the Spanish Grand Prix and famously defeated Lewis Hamilton in a controversial title battle in Abu Dhabi in 2021.
