UNSDG Updates: Latest News from UN Country Teams Worldwide

The UN has 162 teams operating in various countries and territories. These teams work on a variety of priorities, including climate action, food security, gender equality, and the safety of civilians. UN Resident Coordinators and their teams use innovative problem-solving approaches to better serve communities.

Recently, the team led by Resident Coordinator Denise Brown in Ukraine released a report highlighting the impact of efforts to help communities recover from the devastation of war. Over 20 UN agencies were involved in providing support to small businesses, repairing homes, schools, hospitals, and building new energy infrastructure. By 2023, the team had implemented over half a billion dollars in recovery initiatives, which was more than double the amount from the previous year. The installation of new heating, water, and energy infrastructure has benefited over 6 million people and supported thousands of businesses while repairing hundreds of schools and providing skills training to nearly 320,000 individuals. Donors have contributed almost $1.1 billion towards these efforts, which is 42% of the amount requested for recovery programs in Ukraine over the past two years.

The ongoing humanitarian response to Russia’s invasion is complemented by the UN team’s recovery efforts. To keep up with updates from UN teams worldwide
