On April 25, 2024, several notable deaths occurred in different parts of the country. Lois Irene Barton, a resident of Johnstown and a remarkable individual who lived for 96 years, passed away peacefully. She was the daughter of Michael and Anna Bastian and was preceded in death by her husband Frank and siblings Florence and Charles. Lois is survived by children, Anna Marie Doherty, Michael Stombaugh, and more family members.
In Chest Springs on the same day, Ella J. “Judy” Carroll passed away at the age of 89. Born in Glen Daniel, W.Va., she was the daughter of Dalton and Delila Claypool. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph L. Carroll and sons David Martin “Duff” and Michael Lee.
Stacy Elise Lasser also passed away on April 25 at the age of 45 after bravely fighting liver cancer. She is survived by loving parents Byron and Ronna Lasser as well as uncles, aunts, and other family members.
Lastly, Shary Lee Weis passed away peacefully in St. Petersburg at the age of 60 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Altoona to D Reid Meredith and Mary Lee Meredith, she was a graduate of Altoona Area High School
